Histology

Histology of aquatic animals focuses on the microscopic structure of tissues in marine and freshwater organisms, including fish, mollusks, and crustaceans. It helps in understanding their normal physiology and detecting diseases or environmental stress effects. Key aspects include: Comparative histology that allows the examination of the morphology and function of organs and tissues in aquatic species; assessment of the normal tissue structure, studying the histological organization of key organs like the liver, kidney, and digestive system; identify tissue alterations caused by pollutants, infections or other stressors by histopathology test; and identifying diseases by recognizing parasites and/or pathological lesions.
