Veterinary medicine has undergone sweeping changes in the last few decades. Women now account for 55 percent of the active veterinarians in the field, and nearly 80 percent of veterinary students are women. • Julie Kumble. Researcher, writer, and Director in Women's Leadership; Founding Director of a leadership program called "The Leadership Institute for Political an Public Impact"; and Founding Director of the Women's Veterinary Leadership Development Initiative". She also developed, in 2014, a course on Women's Leadership in Veterinary Medicine, at Cornell University, and was offered at other veterinary colleges.
• Donald F. Smith. Large animal surgeon, Veterinary historian, he was the 9th Dean of Cornell's University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
